LGSF EXPLAINED
What Is LGSF Construction?
— Light Gauge Steel Framing Explained
LGSF — light gauge steel framing — is a prefab construction system that uses
thin, cold-formed galvanised steel sections as a building's structural frame
instead of brick and RCC. Each section is roll-formed to exact length in a
factory, labelled, and screwed together on site like a kit. It is also known
as cold-formed steel construction, and most buyers find it under the name
prefab house construction.
In India LGSF is used for prefab houses, villas, farmhouses, site offices,
showrooms, rooftop extensions and rural housing. Jadro also uses LGSF as the
wall and roof framing in our hybrid steel buildings, where it sits on a
pre-engineered primary frame to give large-span buildings an insulated,
finished envelope. We deliver across Kolkata, Howrah, West Bengal, Bihar,
Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam and the Northeast.

Why Build with
LGSF Instead of Conventional Construction?
Speed of Construction
LGSF buildings can be constructed30–50% fasterthan traditional brick and mortar structures, saving significant time and labor cost.
Lightweight Yet Strong
Cold-formed steel sections are lightweight but deliver high structural strength, making them ideal for a wide range of building types.
Earthquake & Wind Resistant
LGSF structures are designed to withstand seismic activity and wind loads, making them a safer choice in high-risk zones.
Design Flexibility
LGSF allows a wide range of architectural designs — from simple homes to complex commercial spaces — without structural limitations.
Eco-Friendly Construction
Steel is 100% recyclable. LGSF generates minimal on-site waste compared to conventional construction, supporting sustainable building practices.
Cost-Effective Lifecycle
Lower maintenance costs, reduced construction time, and long structural life make LGSF an economically smart choice over the long term.
How LGSF Actually Performs
- Factory Precision, ±1mm Tolerance — Every component is fabricated to exact spec, so on-site fit-up is consistent, not left to guesswork.
- Termite-Proof & Corrosion-Resistant — Galvanized steel won't rot, crack, or need termite treatment — a real problem for timber and masonry in Indian climates.
- No Skill-Dependent Site Work — Quality comes from the factory line, not from how skilled the on-site labour crew happens to be that day.
- No Water-Dependent Construction Steps — Dry assembly means monsoon season doesn't stall the build the way wet RCC construction does.
- Smaller, Cheaper Foundations — Lighter structural loads reduce the foundation work needed compared to RCC.
- Easy to Expand Later — Add a room, a floor, or a rooftop extension later without breaking into the existing structure.
- Works Where Bricks Cannot Reach — Components ship flat-packed and
labelled, so remote hill and Northeast sites get the same build
quality as an urban plot.
Where LGSF Is Used — Prefab Homes to Site Offices
Residential:prefab houses, villas, bungalows, farmhouses, cottages, rural housing, labour quarters, rooftop extensions.
Commercial:site offices, showrooms, retail stores, food counters, training centres.
Special Use: labour quarters, shelters, camps, drywall partitions and roof framing on hybrid steel buildings, carrying insulated build-ups over a pre-engineered primary frame.

How the LGSF Construction Process Works
Understanding how LGSF is built helps you plan your project with confidence:
Structural Design
Prepared based on your architectural drawings and site requirements.
Factory Fabrication
All steel sections precision cold-formed in a factory-controlled environment.
Site Delivery
Components arrive clearly labeled, numbered, and ready to assemble.
Frame Erection
Lightweight foundation laid. Steel frame erected rapidly on site.
Finishing
Cladding, services, and interior finishing applied to complete the building.
This factory-to-site process eliminates most on-site delays, reduces wastage, and keeps your project timeline predictable.
