A mass housing scheme built in light gauge steel framing at Bengaluru. Panels were designed and roll-formed at Jadro Steel's factory in Panchla, Howrah, then delivered numbered and assembled on site.

Site labour is the constraint, not the material

In a city like Bengaluru the difficulty on a housing scheme is rarely the material. It is finding and keeping enough skilled trades on site for long enough to finish. Every month a project runs long is another month of that problem.

Light gauge steel framing moves most of the skilled work off the site altogether. Cutting, punching and marking happen on the line at our factory. What is left on site is assembly, which needs a smaller crew and a shorter training curve than masonry does.

Shipping a building 1,800 kilometres

Bengaluru is a long way from Howrah, and steel is heavy. A project at that distance only makes sense if the load is dense and nothing is wasted — which is exactly what flat-packed framing is. Sections travel stacked and cut to final length, so nothing is carried across the country only to be trimmed off and thrown away at the other end.

We say the same thing to every client at that range: tell us the location and the scale, and we will tell you honestly whether the freight makes sense. On a repeated scheme it usually does, because the design cost and the transport are spread across many units.

Assembly in a known sequence

Every panel arrived marked with where it belonged, delivered in the order the crew needed it. On a multi-unit site that sequencing is what keeps a scheme moving — the alternative is a yard full of steel and somebody working out what goes where.
